Winterfell's Tall Ship Race and Privateers Ball SFL Edition

Saturday June 29th @ 11:30am - Winterfell's Tall Ship Race

The Tall Ship Race is part of the Swashbuckler for Life multi-team RFL Event, organized by the Winterfell Privateers

The race will start South of the Nepenthe Gate, the border between Winterfell and Caledon and will end under the gate itself, after a tour of the Southern Winterfell sims.
The race field is shown in the included image.

Eligible ships are 2 or 3 masted sailships propelled by SL winds, usually used in naval battles and belonging to the SPD, TSS, SCS, SSS, JRS, AT, BRS classes (any ship usually approved for naval battles is eligible, even if not listed here). There is no other limit, but keep in mind that not all the ships fit under the Nepenthe gate. Even if the bridge will be opened at the required moments, the opening is rather narrow and ships that fit under the gate will be able to get more room to maneuver and will find themselves at an advantage (an SPD Frigate, for instance will require the gate to be opened)

Each race will be one go through the race field once

If 2 ships will enter the race we will have a direct final
If 3 ships will enter the race we will have a round robin (each ship will compete against the other two). In case each ship wins one  race we will have a 3 ships final
If 4-5 ships will enter the race we will have 2 semifinals (one with 3 ships and the other with 2 ships) and the winners will meet in a final
if 6-7 ships enter the race we will have 3 semifinals and one 3-ships final
If 8 or more ships will enter the race we will have quarterfinals, semifinals and final

The Race will take place on Saturday 29 from 11:30 am to 1 pm SLT.

Ban Lines in Winterfell

I have been getting a number of questions regarding ban lines in WInterfell.  Ban lines are not allowed in Winterfell, but sometimes people accidentally put them up with out understanding how or when they did it.

To check your land and make sure you are in compliance with the Covenant, please follow the instructions below.

Open the "ABOUT LAND" menu ---- You can find the "ABOUT LAND" or the "PARCEL PROPERTIES" under the "WORLD" pull down menu found in the top of your Second Life screen, examples have been provided.

Once you have the "ABOUT LAND" menu open, please make sure that "ALLOW PUBLIC ACCESS" box is checked and all the other boxes are are unchecked.

If you find that you have your settings incorrect, please be sure to correct it ASAP and if you have any questions contact one of the following people:

Traveling in SL

It has long been heartbreaking to try and travel through SL with out the aid of the o'so easy teleport option.   Traveling by ship, plane, automobile, horse or even by foot has often resulted in crashing or rubber banding across the grid.

It seems that is all about to change, or at least there are mumblings about getting the sim crossing experiance to be a better one.

Thank you to Ambassador Whitfield for bringing this article to my attention!

Winterfell Ferry Is Up and Running!

The Winterfell Ferry is up and running again.  Better than ever!

We have a new route, and a beautiful new mesh boat designed by Maxwell Graf of Rustica.  Eight launching points -- touch a sign to rez the ferry -- Instant gratification any time you want to explore our beautiful Winterfell, or travel from one point to another without the agony of walking, flying or teleporting!

Cee and Litta tried to improve the ride, especially crossing sim boundaries.  The boat seats up to four passengers, and while things may be a bit rough when there are more than one or two of you, tests show that you will most likely not get dumped in the water.

But watch out when you want to get out at a dock.  Step lively and mind the gap!

The full 35-minute tour starts at any one of the eight locations below and stops at each of the others.  Get out to explore and rez a new ride when you are ready.  Enjoy!!

Winterfell Absinthe
Winterfell Laudanum
Winterfell Anodyne
Winterfell Ebonshire
Winterfell Aislinn
Rustica
Winterfell Community Center (Rosehaven)
Winterfell Embassy in Caledon Cape Wrath

P.S. and Minutia:  There's a forced two minute delay after you rez a boat before another one can be rezzed at the same location.  That keeps things from bunching up later.   Please notify Cee Edman of any bad glitches you encounter.
